The Gwinnett Youth Commission is an intensive summer program designed to give interested youth an inside look at how Gwinnett County Government operates. Participants will learn valuable leadership skills and have the opportunity to connect with their local officials and peers.
The program is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are Gwinnett County residents and enrolled in a Gwinnett County school, including Gwinnett County Public Schools, Buford City Schools, private, home, or charter schools. The class is limited to 32 participants each cycle. Students selected for this program will represent a cross-section of Gwinnett County.
Applications are open Monday, March 16 through Monday, April 13, and accepted candidates will be notified in late April. The program will run from June 3 to July 23. Once accepted into the program, students may not miss more than one session. The orientation and induction ceremony are required sessions.
Those interested in learning more before applying can attend a Parent and Student Information Session on Tuesday, March 17 at 6:30pm in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Auditorium, located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
