Gwinnett joins the nation in celebrating 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Button Gwinnett, our county’s namesake, signed the document on August 2, 1776, cementing Gwinnett County’s ties to America’s founding.
To recognize this historic milestone, the County is hosting a monthlong celebration, “Realizing America's Vision: Celebrating 250 Years,” to honor the pioneers, innovators, public servants, families, and community builders whose contributions strengthen Gwinnett and enrich the American experience.
From July 4 through August 2, join the celebration by participating in a community photo challenge, attending local events, and more.
Visit GwinnettCounty.com/250 to join the celebration and follow us on social media @GwinnettGov to learn about Gwinnett’s historic places and people.
