Hundreds of law enforcement officers, state and local leaders, and community members gathered at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville on Saturday, February 7, to honor the life and legacy of Gwinnett Police Officer Pradeep Tamang.
Officer Tamang was killed in the line of duty on Sunday, February 1, during an unprovoked attack. The celebration of life ceremony served as a powerful tribute to a man remembered for his eagerness to serve and protect, his dedicated work ethic, and deep devotion to his family.
Officer Tamang, a native of Nepal who immigrated to the United States 10 years ago, joined the Gwinnett County Police Department in July 2024. He graduated from the 121st Police Academy in May 2025 and is survived by his fiancée and his family in Pennsylvania.
The fatal incident occurred while Officer Tamang and MPO David Reed were investigating a fraud call. Both officers were shot. While gunfire was returned and the suspect was apprehended, Officer Tamang tragically succumbed to his injuries.
MPO David Reed, a veteran of the department since 2015, continues to recover. Community members offered prayers for his swift recovery during the service.
Following the ceremony, a procession of family, Gwinnett Police personnel, and fellow law enforcement officers escorted Officer Tamang from 12Stone Church to Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
The Gwinnett County Police Department asks that residents keep the families, friends, and colleagues of both Officer Tamang and MPO Reed in their thoughts during this difficult time.
