Gwinnett’s Emergency Management achieves national accreditation

Gwinnett County continues to be among the best in the nation when it comes to handling the unexpected. The County’s Office of Emergency Management has once again earned national accreditation through the Emergency Management Accreditation Program.

To get this achievement, Gwinnett had to prove it doesn't just have a plan on paper, but a tested process ready for anything from major storms to technical disasters.

The Office of Emergency Management was evaluated across 17 different areas, including planning, resource management, training, communication, and administration.

“This accreditation proves that our emergency systems are built on a foundation of excellence,” said Gwinnett County OEM Director Michael Shaw. “This accreditation is a promise to our residents that we are constantly looking for ways to improve our readiness for any disaster.”

This accreditation is valid for the next five years.
