Gwinnett celebrates Hispanic Latino Heritage Month
¡Celebremos! Hispanic Latino Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 to October 15 to celebrate the contributions that generations of Hispanic and Latino Americans have made to our country’s history, society, and culture. In Gwinnett, this month-long celebration is an opportunity to pause and celebrate the remarkable achievements of influential Hispanic and Latino Americans in our vibrant community.
Hispanic Latino Heritage Month was officially designated in 1968 when California Congressman George E. Brown introduced a bill to establish Hispanic Heritage Week. President Ronald Reagan expanded the celebration to a full month in 1988, from September 15 to October 15.
Each year, Gwinnett commemorates Hispanic Latino Heritage Month with a cultural exhibit displaying the various countries, traditions, food, innovations, and more from the community at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. Stay tuned for more information about the exhibit and annual celebration taking place on Wednesday, October 15 at 6:30pm. More details and a link to register will be available soon.
