July is National Park and Recreation Month
It’s time to share our park and recreation story! July is the perfect time to see what your parks and recreation have to offer and share your stories about what parks and recreation means to you. We’re celebrating Park and Recreation Month this month by highlighting the stories of how our communities are stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient because of parks and recreation.
To celebrate, we’re sharing “Our Park and Recreation Story” with special events and social media contests and posts throughout the month.
- Mini Gwinneytown at Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, Monday through Friday, July 1 to July 30
- Art in the Park at Rhodes Jordan Park, Monday through Sunday, July 1 to July 20
- Tie-Dye Day at Lucky Shoals Park on Saturday, July 2
- Hot Diggity Dog at Dacula Park Activity Building on Thursday, July 6
- Sweet Summertime Social at Bethesda Park Senior Center on Wednesday, July 7

Gwinnett Parks and Recreation invites the community to stop by your local parks and recreation facility to pick up a hand fan to take a picture with and share your story and experiences using #OurParkAndRecStory on social media.

Residents can also share their park story on special signs that will be available at the events. Plus, they can add to their park story by donating children’s books at any park building for the G.R.E.A.T. Little Minds book exchanges.
