One of the oldest houses in Gwinnett, the circa-1827 Isaac Adair House is a southern beauty with remarkable craftsmanship, down to the hand-planed boards and mortise and tenon joints. Exemplifying the Federal/Georgian architectural style common to the period, the two-story box structure was built two rooms deep with doors and windows in strict symmetry, a side gable roof, small entry porch, and a fanlight over the doorway with sidelights. The house was originally located near the intersection of Pike Street and Hurricane Shoals Road, moved to Chandler Road in the 1980s, and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. A manicured garden with an arbor and pergola adds to the ambiance of the lovely site, which is available to rent.
