Aisha DeBerry was appointed as Gwinnett County’s first Access and Opportunity Officer in April 2024. She began her career with Gwinnett County in 2004 as the inaugural admissions recruiter for the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Georgia (PCOM Georgia), and later served as the institution’s first Executive Director leading institutional strategy and community engagement.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Aisha holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and earned her Juris Doctorate from Lincoln Memorial University. She has built a career focused on expanding pathways for engagement, developing organizational strategies, and ensuring compliance in both the public and private sectors. Her background includes establishing foundational programs at PCOM Georgia, leading enterprise-wide initiatives at Gas South, and advising nonprofits on creating sustainable systems that strengthen community impact.
A graduate of Leadership Gwinnett, Aisha is active on advisory boards and councils locally and nationally. In her free time, she enjoys teaching and learning dance, spending time with friends and family, and caring for her two pups, Sasha and Milo.
