Educational programs are a hands-on, real-world extension of the classroom engaging and inspiring students by:

  • Enhancing the appreciation of Gwinnett’s natural resources
  • Promoting sustainability while encouraging further exploration
  • Developing an emotional connection with nature
  • Promoting a greater understanding and attitude of responsible stewardship
  • Developing a wider perspective of students’ sense of place in the environment

We partner with Gwinnett County Public Schools through its ongoing support of educational programs designed to advance student achievement in science and social studies. Gwinnett’s natural resources; and presenting the interaction and interrelationships of lifestyles and cultures, past, present, and future, as they relate to the living world around us.

Visiting teachers can choose a two-hour Quest, a two-hour Exploratory Field Study, or both! Grade-specific curriculum comes alive with hikes, outdoor classrooms, a state-of-the-art laboratory, and a unique historic property.

 

For exciting STEAM, grade-specific curriculum brought to the classroom, teachers can choose from a wide variety of Outreach programs.

All K-12 programs are aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and the Gwinnett County Academic Knowledge and Skills Curriculum (AKS). The programs also support the Georgia Career Clusters Pathways, particularly Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources; Energy; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), and may help a school in its efforts to obtain STEM certification.

Homeschool

Students experience engaging classroom activities to supplement homeschool lessons. From early childhood education, to High School, our lessons bring the concepts of nature, science, and technology to life!

Parents, guardians, and siblings can even experience the grounds and exhibits while the students are in the classroom.
   

 

 

Environmental Expedition

Bring the crew   ! Perfect for day care centers, Brownie or Cub Scout outings, or other groups with budding environmentalists age 5 to 12!

Our two-hour, guided programs are only $8 per person, but teachers (with a school ID) are free. Programs must be reserved in advance and are from 10:00am until noon or from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. There is a 10-student minimum.
