2024 Gwinnett County Budget Latest News
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners has approved a $2.53 billion budget to fund County operations and projects for the year.
The approved budget consists of a $1.97 billion operating budget and a $561 million capital improvements budget, which includes funds from the County’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program.

The adopted budget addresses community needs facing the County such as public infrastructure, a safe, livable, and healthy community and organizational excellence.
Initiatives in the budget include:
- Expanded microtransit zones throughout the county
- The expansion of the Economic Development Division
- A biosolids dryer at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center
- The hiring of 12 firefighters to staff a new ambulance and alternative response vehicle
- The addition of 12 new E-911 communications officers
- Increased pay for elections poll officials
As part of the budget development process, department directors and elected officials presented business plans for 2024 to six Gwinnett residents recruited by Chairwoman Hendrickson. The group reviewed departmental requests and made recommendations to guide spending for next year.
Commissioners held a public hearing on the budget on December 4 and accepted comments online through December 31 before making their final decision.
