COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR APPOINTS DIRECTORS TO HR, WATER RESOURCES DEPARTMENTS

(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 27, 2014) – Gwinnett County Administrator Glenn Stephens has announced his intention to fill one vacant senior management position in the Department of Human Resources and extend the contract for the current Water Resources director. The agenda for today’s commission meeting includes ratification of the employment agreements.

Scott Fuller, who has been serving in an acting capacity since September of last year, previously served as a Senior Assistant County Attorney in the Gwinnett County Law Department for nearly 17 years. In that capacity he served as the County’s employment lawyer. He counseled County departments and elected offices on employment law matters and represented them in employment litigation before the Merit Board, EEOC and in federal court. Before coming to the County, Scott practiced labor and employment law in the private sector for 10 years. Stephens said, “His experience in all facets of employment law and the fact that he has the trust and confidence of all segments of county government made him the ideal individual to lead a rebuilding of the HR team that supports us all.”

Board Chairman Charlotte Nash said, “As a Senior Assistant County Attorney, Scott brought an exceptional wealth of expertise and experience. He has been a great asset to the HR department as an acting director, so I’m confident that he will continue to add value to the team in a permanent capacity.”

Stephens also extended the employment agreement with Ron Seibenhener to lead the Department of Water Resources. A longtime resident of Gwinnett County, Ron has worked in his own consulting practice since 2006. He previously worked as president of Jordan Jones and Goulding, Inc., a regional engineering, planning and consulting firm headquartered in Norcross, where he retired after 14 years of service. Additionally, he served Gwinnett County as director of Public Utilities in the late 1980s and early 90s, before the department was renamed Water Resources. Seibenhener holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in environmental engineering from Auburn University. “For the past two years, Ron has demonstrated outstanding leadership as head of the Water Resources department. His extensive background in engineering and operations has served Gwinnett well as he continues to share his expertise and maintain our position as a leading public utility provider.”

Nash added, “I have known Ron since he first served Gwinnett in the 1980s. He has unmatched expertise and experience in water resources, and we are extremely fortunate that he is willing to continue to serve Gwinnett County by leading our efforts in this area.”
