NORCROSS APARTMENT FIRE DISPLACES SIXTY

(Norcross,GA., October 12, 2025), Firefighters responded at 2:46 p.m. to a neighbor's report of an apartment fire at the Reserve at Gwinnett apartments at 1780 Graves Road NW in Norcross. The 911 caller advised that flames were coming from the top-floor apartment's balcony and that they were trying to evacuate the building.

Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy fire involvement on the front side of a multi-family, three-four-split apartment building. Firefighters initiated an offensive attack on the third level, deploying one  handline to extinguish the flames. During searches and evacuations across multiple floors, the fire quickly spread to a second apartment and into the attic. Command backed fire crews out of the building and established a defensive mode of operation to knock down the bulk of the fire before transitioning into an offensive mode and overhaul. Other fire crews on the scene were utilized for a rapid intervention team, securing utilities, and deploying ladders for a second means of egress. The apartment building sustained extensive fire damage to the third floor, with smoke and water damage throughout the lower floors. Fire crews found no extension to the adjacent apartment buildings. Fire crews remained on the scene for an extended time, extinguishing hot spots and ensuring all hidden fires were extinguished. Medical crews on the scene were standing by for firefighter rehabilitation. Georgia Power arrived to secure electricity to the entire building.

No occupants were in the apartment at the time of the incident, and they stated they were out at the park all day. The Firefighters on the scene found the fire started on the deck; the source is undetermined. No injuries were reported, and the fire displaced sixty occupants, who will receive assistance from the American Red Cross and apartment management.

EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDED: 7- Engines, 2- Ladder Trucks, 1- Squad, 2- Med Units, 3- Command Staff Vehicles, 1- Air & Light, and 1- PIO.
