GWINNETT FIRE ARREST TWO FOLLOWING TUESDAY BUSINESS FIRE

(Snellville, Ga., Dec. 30, 2025) – Firefighters responded to a reported commercial fire at 2:27 p.m. at Mavis Tires & Brakes, located at 3887 Centerville Rosebud Road SW.

The 911 caller reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the rear of the business. Fire crews arrived on scene at 2:33 p.m. and found an active fire in a single-story detached garage located behind the main store. Fire was venting through the roof, and part of the structure had collapsed.

Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line and used an aerial master stream from a ladder truck to attack the fire. Centerville Rosebud Road was temporarily closed in front of the business so firefighters could connect to a hydrant across the street. Firefighters confirmed all occupants were safely out of the building and established safety teams due to hazards on the scene. Those hazards included a downed power line and the structure's enclosed nature, which limited escape routes.

Crews brought the fire under control at approximately 2:45 p.m. One person was evaluated by medical crews and released at the scene for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

Georgia Power and Atlanta Gas Light responded to secure utility services, including the downed power line. A hazardous materials team also responded to assess any environmental concerns.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be incendiary. Since the incident, two adult male suspects have been charged in connection with the fire.

The investigation is still active.

Equipment at the scene included: 3-Engines, 2-Ladder Trucks, 1-Rescue, 1-Med Unit, 2-Command Vehicles, 1-HazMat Unit, 1- Air & Light, 3-Fire Investigators, 1-PIO.
