UPDATE #2: HOMICIDE – ROCKBRIDGE RD.
Update #2: (Lawrenceville, Ga., March 3, 2022) – The Gwinnett Police Homicide Unit has arrested Michael Charles Jackson (63-year-old-male from Lithonia) with the help of the Gwinnett County Sherriff Office Fugitive Unit. Jackson is charged with Malice Murder, Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, and Discharging a Firearm within 50 Yards of a Roadway for the murder of Don Warlaw (46-years-old-male from Stone Mountain).
On March 2, 2022, Gwinnett Police Homicide detectives obtained warrants on Jackson. Homicide detectives worked with the Gwinnett County Sherriff's Office (GCSO) Fugitive Unit who swiftly organized a plan. In a collaborated effort, both the GCSO Fugitive investigators and the GCPD Homicide detectives served the arrest warrants at Jackson’s residence, all in less than 24 hours from warrants being obtained. Jackson was placed under arrest without incident, transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center and is held without bond.
Update #1: The victim has been identified as Don Wardlaw, 46 years old from Stone Mountain. Notification has been made to the victim’s family. Detectives are asking if there are any witnesses who may have seen or heard anything to come forward with any information they may have.
Original:(Stone Mountain, Ga., January 27, 2022) – Gwinnett police Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred on Rockbridge Rd. South Precinct was dispatched to a single vehicle accident into a tree in a resident’s front yard. When officers were on scene, they discovered the driver was deceased and had suffered a gunshot wound. Currently it is not known where the shooting took place.
The Crime Scene Unit is current processing the scene and Detectives are interviewing any possible witnesses. The victim has not yet been identified.
