Volunteer Opportunities

Master Gardeners are one of the largest volunteer groups in Georgia and stay active in the community by organizing in-class and outdoor education for children, school and park beautification projects, community gardens, homeowner educational classes, and general advice related to horticulture and protecting our environment. Each year, Gwinnett County applicants are chosen to attend a three month training program and testing to participate and to become a Master Gardener volunteer.

UGA Extension Gwinnett also relies on 4-H volunteers to help 4-H’ers to learn by doing, develop leadership and life skills, make new friends and develop positive relationships, and to give back to the community through community service projects. All of our volunteers go through a thorough background check and interview process prior to volunteering. This is a long term commitment for adults and not meant for meeting short term requirements from the state.
