Volunteer Opportunities
The Gwinnett County Police Department’s Volunteer Programs were put in place to serve both the department and the community by encouraging citizens to actively participate in volunteerism to improve the quality of life and services offered by the Police Department.
Citizens Police Academy
The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is designed to educate citizens of Gwinnett about their police department and how officers enforce local and state laws. The goal of the CPA is to create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well informed citizens, who have the potential to influence public opinion concerning police practices and the delivery of services.
Criteria to participate in the Gwinnett County Police Volunteer Programs
- 18 years of age or older
- Successfully pass a background check
- No court instructed community service
- No open criminal cases not yet adjudicated
- No felony convictions
- No criminal convictions for crimes against Law Enforcement
- No Major Felony Drug Use
- No Marijuana use within the last three (3) years
- Applicants will be rejected for failure to disclose prior arrests of any kind
