Project AWARE helps seniors stay warm this winter

Help a local senior stay warm during the bitter cold winter months by donating a portable heater to Project AWARE - Added Warmth Assistance for Residences of our Elderly. This is the second year Gwinnett County Senior Services (GCSS) has worked to provide heating assistance to senior citizens.

"We are reaching out to the public to donate these desperately-needed heaters. So far we've distributed seven heaters to seniors, and we're expecting more requests for heaters due to the unusual cold snap we're experiencing this winter," said Melanie Miller, Gwinnett County Health and Human Services Public Relations Specialist.

You can drop off your donation of a brand-new portable electric heater at any Gwinnett County fire station until February 12, 2010. The heaters, along with a smoke detector and information on fire safety, will be distributed to seniors in need.
