Grandparents invited to forum

Nationally-renowned expert on intergenerational issues Amy Goyer will be in Gwinnett on Wednesday, September 30, to speak at a Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Forum. "We estimate more than 5,000 grandparents in Gwinnett are now raising their grandchildren after having already raised their own children," said Senior Services Manager Linda Bailey. "We hope to help them with information and resources at this forum."

Goyer has been interviewed on national television networks and by major newspapers and magazines. She has worked with generational issues for 25 years. The US Census Bureau reports more than four million American families have at least three generations living under one roof.

The forum will be held at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, 2020 Clean Water Drive in Buford from 8:30am to 2:00pm. The cost is $10/person or $15/couple. It is sponsored by the Gwinnett Coalition Senior Issues Action Team and Gwinnett Senior Services.
