Gwinnett County Public Library's Hamilton Mill Branch receives sustainability awards

The Gwinnett County Hamilton Mill Library continues to gain recognition for its efforts in environmental sustainability. In August it received the Building of America Gold Medal Feature for unique and challenging new projects that focus on giving back to the community. The Hamilton Mill branch was also recognized on October 2 by the Georgia chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) with an Honorable Mention for Excellence in Sustainability for their commitment to holistic sustainability and the value of return on investing in a public project during times of economic hardship.

The USGBC advances and promotes sustainable and environmentally-responsible planning, design, construction, and operation of buildings, landscapes, cities, and communities. The Council developed the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, an internationally-recognized green building certification system. The Hamilton Mill branch is currently on track to receive the prestigious LEED Silver certification for its sustainable approach to design and construction.
