Hamilton Mill Library receives LEED Gold Certification

The Gwinnett County Hamilton Mill Library continues to gain recognition for its efforts in environmental sustainability. The Hamilton Mill branch was granted LEED® Gold certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. The Hamilton Mill branch is the first public library in Georgia to achieve LEED Gold certification.

LEED is the nation's top program for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. Earning this certification exceeds Gwinnett County Library's expectations for this branch. It was originally designed with the intention of reaching LEED® Silver certification.

In addition, the Hamilton Mill branch was recognized by the Georgia chapter of USGBC with an Honorable Mention for Excellence in Sustainability for its commitment to total sustainability and the value of return on investing in a public project during times of economic hardship on October 2, 2010.

In August 2010, the library branch also received the Building of America Gold Medal Feature for unique and challenging new projects that focus on giving back to the community.
