FIRE DAMAGES ROOF AT RESTAURANT

Firefighters responded at 10:31 p.m., to a passerby report of a fire at the Costa Azul Restaurant, 1200 block of Rockbridge Road, NW in (unincorporated) Norcross.  The caller to 9-1-1 reported smoke coming from the roof.

Crews arrived to find moderate smoke showing from the roof of a single-story, wood-frame and brick structure.  Firefighters immediately deployed an attack hose line and made entry inside the restaurant to locate the source.  The interior of the restaurant was found to be clear of any smoke or fire conditions.  Firefighters opened up the attic and discovered an active fire in a dormer on the roof above the front door.  The fire was quickly extinguished and the area was overhauled.  The restaurant was closed at the time and no one was at the business when the fire department arrived.  The fire damage was contained to the dormer on the roof.  There were no injuries reported.

The exact cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is under investigation.
