Escaped Arrestee from Eastside Medical Center

(Snellville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department needs the public’s help in locating an escaped arrestee from earlier this evening.  At around 7pm, officers assigned to the South Precinct responded to a suspicious person call in the area of Burdette Place.  Kevin Dawkins (age 27, Snellville - photo attached) was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine.  During his interaction with officers, he became non-compliant.  He was tased.  Officers at the scene placed him in custody and contacted an ambulance because he was going in and out of consciousness.  He was eventually taken to Eastside Medical Center via ambulance.

Before the arresting officer arrived at the hospital for follow-up, Kevin fled at around 8:45pm.

Though Kevin is not considered a danger to the community, it is our responsibility to bring him back into custody.  Upon his capture, he will be facing charges for Possession of a Schedule II Drug (Cocaine), Obstruction, and Escape.

Kevin Dawkins was last seen wearing blue pants and a blue shirt.  He is a black male, slim build, black short hair, 5 feet 11 inches, 170 lbs., scar on his elbow, and a tattoo on his chest that says, “wall mart.”  When he escaped, he was still wearing handcuffs.

If anyone knows where Kevin can be found, please contact 911 (GCPD 911-Center: 770 513-5700).  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.  Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
