Homicide Investigation 1436 Silver Lake Drive

(Norcross, Georgia)  Gwinnett Police are investigating a homicide that occurred at 1436 Silver Lake Drive in unincorporated Norcross.  The call came in at 4:43am and the caller reported that someone had been shot.  Officers from our West Precinct arrived at 4:49am and found a Hispanic male deceased in the front yard from an apparent gunshot wound.  Detectives and Crime Scene personnel responded to process the scene.  The initial investigation revealed that the male was a 38 year old male originally from Mexico.  He was renting a room at the location and it was not abnormal for him to come and go at various hours of the night.  He had been renting the room for approximately one year.  He had no relation to the other residents of the home.  Witnesses reported hearing more than one gunshot and we are working to determine how many shots were fired.  At this time the motive for this crime has not been determined.  Detectives are interviewing anyone that may have helpful information.  The identification of the male is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
