Several Thefts from Vehicles at Local Gyms
(Stone Mountain & Lawrenceville, Georgia) A Gwinnett County Police Department detective needs help from the community in solving a string of Entering Auto thefts from three local gyms.
On Wednesday, July 18, and Thursday, July 19, eleven (11) vehicles were broken into at two different LA Fitness locations (5295 Stone Mountain Highway, unincorporated Stone Mountain and 1860 Duluth Highway, unincorporated Lawrenceville) and a Planet Fitness (1900 Rockbridge Road, unincorporated Stone Mountain). Witnesses of these incidents provided similar information that there was a black male suspect who entered all the vehicles and a black female driver. The suspects may be driving a grey SUV, possibly a Volvo.
Several cases had fraudulent transaction card activity occur shortly after the vehicles were broken into. Most of the fraudulent transactions occurred at the Chevron gas station located at 2991 Everson Road in unincorporated Snellville and at the Best Buy located at 1875 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth.
In the transaction at the Best Buy, a woman is seen entering the business and purchasing an Apple Mac Book Pro. Though it is unclear if she is related to the Entering Auto thefts, the detective would like to identify her and determine her level of involvement in the crimes.
We urge all visitors to any gym to never leave valuables in their vehicles. The best advice would be to either leave valuables at home or secure them in a locker with a durable padlock.
