UPDATE #1: Homicide Robbery Related, Not Road Rage

UPDATE - The deceased person has been identified as Junior Lanuza-Gutierrez (H/M, 16 years old).  His next of kin have been notified.  Erik Vargas (H/M, 20 years old) was also shot during the incident and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.  Detectives have determined this incident was not the result of road rage, but rather stemmed from a robbery attempt.  The five passengers of the “victim” vehicle, a gray Nissan Altima, attempted to rob an unknown subject in the parking lot of 950 Indian Trail Road.  The person(s) they were attempting to rob shot at the Nissan Altima, which fled the scene.  The occupants made up a story about being the victims of road rage and called police.  Officers, detectives, and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the shooting location and processed the scene.

The three occupants of the Nissan Altima who were not shot have been charged with felony murder and criminal attempt at robbery.  All three were arrested and are in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.  The arrested subjects are:

Harry Richardson (B/M, 20 years old)
Anthoney Esquero (H/M, 18 years old)
Kevin Gallardo (H/M, 17 years old)

Detectives are still trying to identify the person(s) who fired the shots.  If anyone has any information to share in this case, please contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.StopCrimeATL.com.  Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
