(Loganville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) investigated a traffic fatality that occurred on Sunday, June 23.  The collision occurred around 7 AM on Athens Highway (State Route 10) in unincorporated Loganville near Rosebud Road.

The at-fault vehicle was traveling westbound on Athens Highway and attempted to turn left across traffic into the Kroger parking lot. Another vehicle was traveling straight in the eastbound lanes and the vehicles collided. The passenger of the at-fault driver was deceased at the scene. The at-fault driver and the driver of the other vehicle were both transported to the hospital with serious injuries. At this time, the at-fault driver is in critical condition.

The deceased party has been identified as Rochelle Vinson, 38, of Monroe.

 Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible contributing factors in the accident. Athens Highway eastbound was closed about two and a half hours during the investigation.
