CELEBRATE YOUR GWINNETT COUNTY PARKS IN RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH

(Lawrenceville, Ga., July 2, 2020) – This July, the Gwinnett Parks and Recreation staff invites you to participate in National Parks and Recreation Month’s “We are Parks and Recreation,” which encourages residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to show their love and appreciation for parks and park amenities.

All month long, residents can have fun and get fit with park-themed social media activities. The Selfie Safari encourages participants to post selfies of things to see and do in the parks, and the Trail Trek is a fitness challenge to walk 20 miles of park trails. Visit GwinnettParks.com to download the scorecards and get instructions on how to complete the activities and post the pics. Residents can also explore on their own, visit any of Gwinnett Parks and Recreations’ 50 parks, and enjoy numerous amenities from sunrise to sunset.

“Our award-winning parks offer something for everyone,” said Department of Community Services Deputy Director Mark Patterson. “Whether you want to enjoy a picturesque picnic, hike a scenic nature trail, try your luck fishing, play disc golf or rent a pavilion for your family reunion, we have it all and more.”

Remember to share selfies and stories with #WeAreParksAndRec on Instagram or Facebook @GwinnettParksAndRec. Enjoy parks and park activities safely by following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on protecting yourself and others from COVID-19.

Gwinnett Parks and Recreation partners with the community to provide a variety of high quality parks, facilities, programs and services, creating a sense of community, enabling a safe and secure environment and enhancing Gwinnett’s quality of life.
