MHTF Newsletter
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Tasks Force (MHTF) Unit presents to you the MHTF Newsletter. The MHTF Newsletter will publish and distribute a monthly informational newsletter. In each issue, we will present a different topic regarding mental illness to include various subjects such as diagnostic criteria, recognition and insight into misunderstood behaviors regarding psychosis and other acute mental illness presentations. As part of the MHTF Newsletter series, we will be presenting basic principles of de-escalation techniques and ways to interact with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
MHTF offers monthly installments to help enhance Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office awareness and practical working knowledge of mental illness and to help lower the stigma that has plagued the mentally ill for centuries. The monthly installments will be a foundational element in MHTF’s stated mission to actively reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and act as an instrument of advocacy to stem the decade’s long migration of the mentally ill into the criminal justice system. These publications are also presented to promote mental and emotional health for all of Gwinnett County employees and their families.
If anyone seeks further understanding or information about the MHTF Newsletter, please contact Trakida.Maldonado@GwinnettCounty.com.
