FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE DEADLY HOUSE FIRE IN UNINCORPORATED SNELLVILLE TUESDAY NIGHT
(Snellville, Ga., June 24, 2025) – Firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on the 4200 block of Round Stone Trail SW in unincorporated Snellville at 7:35 p.m. The caller reported that their neighbor's house was on fire and that a person was trapped inside. Call takers began to receive multiple reports of the house fire.
When firefighters arrived at 7:38 p.m., they observed heavy fire on the back side of a single-family, split-level home. Bystanders on the scene continued to report that someone was still inside the residence. Fire crews immediately deployed multiple fire hoses to attack the flames and begin searching for victims. While firefighters attempted to enter a window on the second floor, the roof collapsed, forcing crews to withdraw their rescue attempts until they could reassess the structure's stability. Once fire crews brought the fire under control and it was safe to continue rescue efforts, search teams re-entered the structure. Firefighters found one adult inside the structure, which they rapidly carried to medical crews standing by, who transported the critical patient to Piedmont Eastside. In compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services will not be releasing the patient's name. Fire crews brought the fire under control shortly after 7:49 p.m.
No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident. In addition to the human victim, search teams identified three deceased canine pets inside the home and one feline that was suffering from smoke inhalation. Medical crews were able to treat the cat with supplemental oxygen via a pet mask before turning it over to Gwinnett Animal Welfare & Enforcement for transport to a veterinary hospital for ongoing care. Fire Investigators on the scene said that the cause of this fire is undetermined.
