GAS LEAK SHUTS DOWN PLEASANT HILL ROAD IN DULUTH

(Duluth, Ga., January 15, 2020) – Gwinnett County firefighters are currently on the scene of a natural gas leak outside on Pleasant Hill Road, NW near Mall Boulevard in unincorporated Duluth.  Fire crews responded to the scene at 5:08pm and arrived to find a strong odor of gas and an active leak.

The fire department’s Hazardous Materials Response Team is in the scene and continuing to monitor air quality and gas readings in the immediate area. Three business located in close proximity have been asked to shelter-in-place. There are no evacuations and no injuries being reported at this time.

The gas line was cut by a construction crew that was digging near the roadway on Pleasant Hill. Representatives from Atlanta Gas Light are working to identify the size of the ruptured gas line and stop the leak.

Firefighters and police have shut down the E/B and W/B lanes of Pleasant Hill Road, between Satellite Boulevard and Mall Boulevard. There is no ETA on mitigation at this time.
