EARLY MORNING APARTMENT FIRE DISPLACES MULTIPLE FAMILIES

UPDATE #1: Fire operations have concluded for this incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
 

ORIGINAL: (Norcross, Ga., Nov. 1, 2023) - At 3:26 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of an apartment fire at 122 Sparrows Lane, NW, in Norcross. A tenant was reporting that they could see flames. The call taker advised them to evacuate the building.

Firefighters arrived at 3:33 a.m. to find a two-story, multi-family dwelling with fire blowing through the roof. The first arriving unit knocked down the bulk of flames with a deck gun as other firefighters deployed attack lines into the structure. Fire crews utilized a hydrant in the parking lot to support suppression efforts. Other crew members deployed multiple fire attack handlines to combat the flames and conduct building searches for fire victims. Search teams confirmed that everyone had safely escaped the building during the fire. Firefighters brought the fire under control at 4:32 a.m.

No injuries were reported at this fire incident. The American Red Cross will be assisting at least 33 adults and 10 children whom this fire has displaced. Firefighters rotated through rehab before returning to service. Fire investigators are presently working to determine the cause of this fire. This incident remains active.

EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDED: 4-Engines, 2-Trucks, 1-Squad, 1-Med Unit, 1-Rescue, 2-Command Staff Vehicles, 1-Air and Light, 3-Fire Investigators, and 2-PIOs.
