FIRE RIPS THROUGHT TOWNHOMES IN PEACHTREE CORNERS DISPLACES 37 PEOPLE

(Peachtree Corners, GA., April 26, 2023) - At 11:36 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of an apartment fire on 6520 Hillandale Drive NW in Peachtree Corners, The Fields at Peachtree Corners Apartments. The leasing office was contacted by plumbers working in a unit that there was a fire. The leasing office called 911.

Firefighters arrived at 11:37 a.m. to find a working fire in a two-story, multi-family townhome on a slab. Fire crews observed heavy fire and smoke venting from the center of the structure. They deployed multiple handlines for fire attack as well as set up a ladder truck for aerial operations. Crews on scene moved handlines to the attic of the townhomes and gained access to extinguish the flames. The fire walls between the townhomes kept the fire damage to a minimal. Firefighters set up multiple ladders for rescue of possible victims. Search teams confirmed that there were no victims inside the townhomes. Crews did rescue one canine who was uninjured and was reunited with its owner. Crews brought the fire under control at 12:36 p.m.

There were no injuries reported on this fire scene. In all, 37 occupants were displaced by the fire. The property leasing office is working with the American Red Cross for assistance with relocation during repairs. All crews rotated through rehab before returning to service. Firefighters said the cause of this accidental fire is related to work being completed by the plumbers.

 

EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDED:   4- Engines, 2- Ladder Trucks, 1- Squad, 1- Rescue, 2- Command Staff Vehicles, 1- Air and Light, 1- Fire Investigators, and 2- PIOs.
