(Norcross, Ga., February 10, 2025) – Georgia State Patrol is investigation a single vehicle collision, involving a Gwinnett County police vehicle, that resulted in the death of a male pedestrian.
Shortly before 1:00a.m., an officer assigned to our West Precinct notified radio dispatch that he was involved in a collision with a pedestrian. The incident occurred on Beaver Ruin Road near Interstate 85. As the officer drove east on Beaver Ruin Road, the pedestrian suddenly began crossing the roadway outside of the crosswalk. Officers responded quickly to render aid to the male. The male was then transported by the Gwinnett County Fire Services paramedics where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Due to the nature of the collision, Georgia State Patrol was on the scene conducting the investigation, with the assistance of the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit. The on-scene investigation has since concluded so morning traffic will not be affected by this incident.
Although the roadway has been reopened, Georgia State Patrol is still conducting their investigation. The name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin can be properly notified. More information about this incident will be released as it becomes available.
