OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING 6719 LOCKRIDGE DRIVE
(Atlanta, Ga., Dec.. 18, 2025) – Shortly before 1:40 p.m., Gwinnett County Police were requested by members of the State Mobile Crisis Team from Behavioral Health Link to respond with them to 6719 Lockridge Drive regarding a mental health related incident.
Upon arrival, officers met with members of the Mobile Crisis Team and made contact with a resident outside the home. Clinicians made the determination for the subject to be taken to a hospital for assessment. The subject went back into the residence and then came around a corner armed with a knife. Officers gave multiple verbal commands for the subject to stop, which the subject did not comply with. The subject then charged toward the officer raising the knife and the officer responded by firing his county issued firearm and struck the individual.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were already on scene and immediately rendered medical aid to the subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the subject is unknown at this time but is reported to be alive.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be leading the investigation and will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
