BURGLARY SUSPECT ARRESTED WITH STOLEN COPPER IN HIS POSSESSION

(Norcross, Ga., April. 16, 2024) – A Norcross man is under arrest for several counts of Burglary after multiple residences had been broken into.

On March 14, officers at the West Precinct took a burglary report on Fern Ridge Court in Norcross.  It was determined that multiple townhomes under construction had been entered and copper HVAC pipe had been stolen.

The reporting officer was able to get video footage of a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood prior to the burglaries.  The officer was able to locate the vehicle on Flock cameras and alerted other officers to be on the lookout.

Later in the day officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  Carlos Banos Herrera (24 years old, Norcross) was driving the vehicle and still had a large amount of copper pipe inside.  Banos Herrera has been charged with 11 counts of Burglary, Unsafe Lane Change, and Driving Without a License.  He was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail with no bond.  Officers returned the copper pipe back to the construction site.
