UPDATE #1: GWINNETT MALL JEWELRY STORES SNATCH AND GRABS TOTAL OVER $39,000

Update:  (Lawrenceville, Ga., January 6, 2022) – Gwinnett Police have arrested Jonathan Louis Weston (32-year-old from Cumming, Ga). Weston is charged with 4 counts of Robbery and 1 count of Battery.

On January 5, 2022, Gwinnett Police officers responded to a theft call at 5900 Sugarloaf Pkwy. (Zales/Sugarloaf Mills Mall). A white male entered the store and asked to see a diamond ring. The employee handed the ring to the male, who took it and ran away. A passerby heard the employee yell and attempted to stop the male but was pepper-sprayed in the face. The male continued running out of the store into the parking lot. Witnesses captured the vehicle's license plate the male drove away in.

Forsyth County Deputies pulled Weston over and arrested him with the assistance of the Gwinnett Special Investigation Section. Weston was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail and held without bond.

 

Original: (Buford, Ga., January 5, 2022) – Gwinnett Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a white male who stole over $39,000 worth of jewelry from three different jewelry stores in Gwinnett.

Employees describe the male as a white male, between 30-40 years of age, ranging between 180-200 lbs. (medium build), approximately 5’8 to 6’00 in height with brown hair. The male has a tattoo on his left forearm and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. The male also has gauge ear piercings on both ears.  

On December 24, 2021, Gwinnett Police officers responded to a theft call at 3333 Buford Dr. (Helzberg Diamonds/Mall of Georgia). A white male entered the store and looked at some earrings. The manager handed over a pair of diamond earrings to the white male. The white male then ran off the store with the earrings valued at $4,500.

On December 27, 2021, Gwinnett Police officers responded to a robbery by sudden snatching call at 3333 Buford Dr. (Diamond Ring Company/Mall of Georgia). A white male entered the store with a mask. The male asked an employee how much a set of diamond earrings were. As the employee was looking at the price tag, the male snatched the earrings out of the employee’s hands and took off running. One of the earrings was valued at $14,800, and the second earring was valued at $10,999.

On December 29, 2021, Gwinnett Police officers responded to a robbery by sudden snatching at 5900 Sugarloaf Pwky. (Jewelry Box Outlet/Sugarloaf Mills Mall). A white male entered the store and asked the employee to see a diamond ring. The employee handed over a ring to the male. The male then grabbed the ring worth $8,900 and ran out of the store.
