UPDATE: The victims in this case have been identified as: Kapri Ward (29 year old male from Lawrenceville) who was found deceased on scene. Jamar Quarles (17 year old male from Memphis, Tennessee) who is currently in critical condition.

At this time, a motive for the murder is not clear and witnesses are encouraged to call GCPD Investigators or Atlanta Crime Stoppers with any useful information. 

(Lawrenceville, Ga., July 01, 2021) – The Gwinnett Police Department is at the scene of a shooting at Durant Sugarloaf Apartments.

Shortly after midnight, officers were dispatched to a “person shot” call at 50 St. Marlowe Drive, in Lawrenceville. Upon arrival officers located one male deceased. One additional male victim was transported to a local hospital. The victims’ names are being withheld until the next of kin is notified.

At this time, investigators are exploring all motives.  Witnesses are encouraged to call GCPD Investigators or Atlanta Crime Stoppers with any useful information.
