UPDATE-Accidental Shooting/Suicide

Update - The males have been identified as Chad Carless (17) and Devin Hodges (15) of Lawrenceville.

The Gwinnett County Police Department is still investigating a tragic sequence of events from earlier this afternoon. Detectives have learned the identities of the two males as well as more details into how the incidents unfolded. After multiple interviews from witnesses, Detectives learned one of the males, Hodges (15), was showing the group a hand gun when he accidentally fired a shot. The shot struck his friend, Carless (17), sitting next to him in the cramped shed. Carless succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive. As officers were arriving on scene, Hodges was seen running between two homes where he then took his own life with the hand gun. Detectives will continue to gather information into the case.

Original -(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  On Monday, December 31, 2018 at approximately 3:15pm, police officers assigned to the Central Precinct responded to 1800 block of Riverlanding Circle in unincorporated Lawrenceville.  When officers arrived they found a teenage male deceased in a makeshift shed.

It appears that four male teenagers gathered at the shed, at some point one of the males displayed a handgun and another male was shot.  The three males left the shed where one called 911.  Responding officers heard a single gunshot while attempting to locate the involved parties from the initial 911 call. Officers located a male with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound a short distance from the makeshift shed.
