UPDATE #1: HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION ON RABBIT HILL ROAD IN DACULA

UPDATE #1: The victim in this case has been identified as Azahni Ellis (27 years of age from Milwaukee, WI).  Homicide Investigators have identified the home owner as the shooter.  The home owner invited Ellis over to the house earlier in the evening.  At some point, Ellis attempted to rob the home owner and shot at him as he attempted to flee the residence.  Ellis left the residence and returned moments later.  Ellis attempted to forcefully enter the residence again by breaking a window next to the front door.  The home owner shot Ellis as Ellis was coming through the front door.  The home owner was not charged and the shooting has been determined to be committed in self-defense.

ORIGINAL POST: (Dacula, Ga., September 30, 2020) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting on Rabbit Hill Road that resulted in a female’s death.  The police department was called just after 3:00 AM in reference to gunshots at a residence off the roadway.

When officers arrived, they located a female in a vehicle across from the residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  The woman died at the scene.  Investigators have responded to the location and are interviewing witnesses.  The crime scene unit has also responded and is processing the scene for evidence.

At this time, there is no motive available and investigators are working to identify the female victim.
