SOLICITOR’S OFFICE TO HOLD INAUGURAL DASH 4 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS 5K
(Lawrenceville, Ga., Oct. 2, 2023) – Lace up your walking shoes and join Gwinnett Solicitor General Lisamarie N. Bristol in the fight against domestic violence.
The Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office will hold its inaugural Dash 4 Domestic Violence Awareness 5K on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 8 a.m. at Alexander Park, located at 955 Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville. Admission is $35 per participant. Groups of five or more are $30.
Participants can support the cause by walking, jogging, running or sponsoring the event. Proceeds from the 5K will go to three domestic violence organizations that provide essential resources to survivors and education to the public: Mosaic Georgia, Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Ahimsa House.
“My office is excited to partner with these three dynamic organizations,” said Lisamarie N. Bristol, Gwinnett County Solicitor General. “Each brings a distinct but necessary component to this very important work that we all do for domestic violence awareness and support.”
Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Over their lifetime, one in five women and one in seven men experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner.
“My office wants to change those statistics by educating and connecting the community to valuable resources. This is a way to accomplish that, while shedding light on such an important issue,” Bristol added.
