GWINNETT INSTALLS NEW SCULPTURES AT BICENTENNIAL PLAZA AND TRAILHEAD

(Lawrenceville, Ga. June 3, 2025) – Gwinnett County officials on Monday celebrated the installation of two new sculptures, “Make A Wish” and “Vibrantly Connected,” at the Bicentennial Plaza and Trailhead in downtown Lawrenceville.

Designed by Georgia artist David Landis, the 11,000-pound “Make a Wish” sculpture draws residents, families and visitors through a stainless-steel clover forest. The sculpture captures the magic of discovery, creating an interactive, enchanting experience where visitors can find a four-leaf clover and make a wish.

At the trailhead, “Vibrantly Connected” stands 12 feet tall and features three highly polished stainless-steel ginkgo leaves that intersect to create negative space that reflects the Gwinnett logo. The sculpture symbolizes resilience, unity and the county’s deep-rooted diversity. The ginkgo, one of the world’s oldest tree species, was chosen for its strength, history and global reach.

“Public art enhances public spaces and connects, unifies and inspires communities,” said Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “The new sculptures reflect the spirit of Gwinnett, celebrating our vibrantly connected community and more than 200-year history.”

“This public art installation celebrates imagination, identity, and the experience of being part of something bigger. The sculptures give new life and meaning to spaces our residents already love,” said District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins III.

Located in the county seat, the Bicentennial Plaza and Trail were originally dedicated in 2018 in honor of Gwinnett County’s Bicentennial.
