COMMISSIONERS AWARD CONTRACTS FOR PEDESTRIAN PROJECTS ON PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL AND JIMMY CARTER BOULEVARDS

(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 19, 2020) – The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners on Tuesday awarded two construction contracts for projects to improve pedestrian connectivity in the area of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard/State Route 141 and Jimmy Carter Boulevard/State Route 140.

Once completed, these projects will result in continuous lengths of sidewalk along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard/SR 141 from Winters Chapel Road to Peachtree Corners Circle and along Jimmy Carter Boulevard/SR 140 from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard/SR 141 to Holcomb Bridge Road. SOL Construction LLC was the low bidder on both projects

The Peachtree Industrial Boulevard/SR 141 project extends from the Winters Chapel Road interchange to the Peachtree Corners Circle interchange and includes sidewalks on the west side of the roadway. This project includes pedestrian beacons known as Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacons for the pedestrian crossing at the ramps on Peachtree Corners Circle. Curb and gutter as well as drainage improvements are included in this project. The $435,709.35 contract is funded by the 2017 SPLOST Program.

The Jimmy Carter Boulevard/SR 140 project will construct sidewalks on the east side of the roadway from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard/SR 141 to Holcomb Bridge Road. Curb and gutter as well as drainage improvements are included as part of the $199,861.56 contract, which is funded by the 2014 SPLOST Program.
