GWINNETT ANIMAL WELFARE TO HOST PET AND SAFETY FESTIVAL AT BEST FRIEND PARK

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 4, 2019) –Gwinnett Animal Welfare will host a day of fun for families and pets Nov. 9 at the first Best Friend Pet and Safety Festival at Best Friend Park in Norcross.

The free event offers family activities, pet resources and an opportunity for free pet vaccinations and microchipping for the first 500 pets to visit the Gwinnett Animal Welfare veterinary trailer in the park. Pets are welcome at the event but must be on a fixed lead or in a carrier.

“We’re debuting our new veterinary and adoption trailers at the event,” said Alan Davis, director of Gwinnett Animal Welfare and Enforcement. “We are looking forward to bringing pet services to our community with this new equipment.”

Free vaccinations for cats and dogs will include RV, DHPP and FVRCP. The free vaccinations are part of a healthy community initiative that was made possible with funding from the Rachael Ray Best Friends grant received in September.

The event will celebrate safety for pets as well as the people who care for them. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with fire and police personnel in a non-emergency environment with fun-filled activities. Firefighters and police officers will share tips and resources on fire safety for pets, crime prevention, personal safety and injury prevention.

Gwinnett County departments partnering with Gwinnett Animal Welfare as part of this tail-wagging event include Community Services, Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Transportation and Water Resources.

Best Friend Park is located at 6224 Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross. For more information on the festival, adoption specials, events or available pets, follow us @GwinnettAnimalShelter on Facebook or visit www.GwinnettAnimalWelfare.com.
