GWINNETT COUNTY TO PHASE IN CLOSURE OF BRISCOE FIELD RUNWAY FOR RESURFACING

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Aug. 28, 2020) – Gwinnett County Airport will phase in closure of the runway at Briscoe Field for rehabilitation work starting next week. The work is to begin Aug. 31 and last through mid-October, weather permitting.

“While we are pleased to get this much-needed resurfacing underway, we do recognize the impact this has on the flying public,” said Alan Chapman, director of the Department of Transportation. “We are working closely with the contractor to get the work done as quickly as possible and to get the runway fully re-opened. Airport staff also has communicated with airport tenants, so pilots are aware and able to move their aircraft as needed.”

The Gwinnett County DOT, which oversees the operation of Briscoe Field, has urged tenants to relocate their planes by Aug. 30 if they have any concerns with their ability to fly out of Briscoe once the work begins.

Pilots are advised to check notice to airmen (NOTAM) prior to planning any flights. Please contact the airport administration office with questions or concerns.
