GWINNETT TO BREAK GROUND ON COUNTY’S FIRST THEMED LIBRARY

WHAT:  Gwinnett officials, in partnership with the city of Lawrenceville, the Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee and the Gwinnett County Public Library Board of Trustees, will break ground on the new Hooper-Renwick Themed Library. The themed library will preserve the historic building that once served as the only public high school for African American students in Gwinnett until desegregation. The SPLOST project will be the first themed library in the southeast and aims to preserve the history and legacy of the Black experience in Gwinnett.

WHEN: Wednesday,Oct. 26, 11 a.m.

WHO: District 4 Commissioner Marlene Fosque will emcee. Speakers include Lawrenceville Mayor David Still, Lawrenceville City Manager Chuck Warbington, Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee Chair Theresa L. Bailey and Gwinnett County Public Library Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Wandy Taylor.
