Instructions on Accessing Online Septic Permitting Records

Septic System installation and repair records have been scanned and are now available online through the County's GIS Data Browser. This is a map based database that will allow you to find a parcel of interest and then access the associated septic system records for that parcel. To access the information you will need either a property address or the Tax Parcel ID number (standard format: 1234 123, 1234A123 or 1234 123A) which you can find on your property tax bill. Once you have this information please follow these steps to access the records:

Note: The documents are stored in pdf format and you will need Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer to access the documents.

  1. Click here to access the County’s GIS Data Browser Septic System Search page.
  2. Here you can either zoom straight to the area of interest using the zoom function or search for the parcel by clicking on the “Searches” button at the top left hand corner of the page. If using the zoom function skip to step 4.
  3. You can search by property address or Tax Parcel ID number (PIN):
    1. To search by Property AddressClick on the “Searches” button at the top left hand corner of the page.
      1. Select “Parcel Search (by PIN or Address)” from the drop down list.
      2. Type the address (ie. 1234 Main Street) into the “Location Address” box.
      3. Select the city from the drop down list in the “Location City” box.
      4. Click on Search
    2. To search by PIN:
      1. Click on the “Searches” button at the top left hand corner of the page.
      2. Select “Parcel Search (by PIN or Address)” from the drop down list.
      3. Type the PIN number into the “Parcel ID (PIN)” box. Be careful to include any spaces.
      4. Click on Search
  4. A map will be presented.
  5. Brown colored parcels have septic system records available online.
  6. Click on the “Identify” tool at the top of the map.
  7. Click on the parcel you are interested in and a “More Information” box will be presented.
  8. Click on the link on the “Doc Name” line. It will be named after the Tax Parcel ID number (ie. 1234 123.pdf)
  9. You should then be presented with all available scanned records associated with the permitting of the septic system.

We have gone to considerable lengths to ensure these records are as accurate as possible. If however, you identify an error we would appreciate it if you would let us know.
