What is Reclaimed Water "Trucking" Transporting?
|
|
Gwinnett County is making a positive impact on the community and the environment by expanding the usage of reclaimed water to preserve drinking water during one of the most devastating drought conditions in the history of the state. We are currently expanding reuse services to incorporate the transporting "trucking" of reclaimed water. This new service will provide reuse water to end users through authorized vehicles for the purpose of street sweeping, dust control, sewer cleaning, landscape irrigation, professional chemical/pesticide applications and concrete batch plants. The process for obtaining service initiates at the DWR main office and commences at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resource Center in Buford. For general information call the Department of Water Resources (DWR) at 678.376.6700.

How Do I Apply for Reclaimed Water Transporting Service?
|
|
There are five basic steps to acquiring reclaimed water service. Once customers contact DWR or visit this site, complete the online training program, pass truck inspection, apply for service at the DWR office, and acquire permit and certification(s) they are eligible to receive service.

- CONTACT DWR
The first step to obtaining Reclaimed Water Trucking Service is visiting and reviewing the content of this web site. You may contact DWR if you have additional questions about getting started.
- COMPLETE TRAINING
The designated user (Owner or Owner's Agent) and each driver of a transporting vehicle are required to complete the online training program (located on this site) to receive certification. Once designated users and drivers have successfully completed the training program, they will receive a certificate of completion to be presented at DWR during time of application.
- TRUCK INSPECTION
Any vehicle transporting reclaimed water must be inspected by the DWR Backflow Division located at the DWR office. The truck inspection should be completed prior to applying for reclaimed water transporting service. Truck inspections are performed annually at a cost of $25 per inspection to be paid in the form of company check, cash or credit card. Customers should contact the Backflow Division at 678.376.7147 to schedule a truck inspection prior to applying for service.
- APPLY FOR TRUCKING SERVICE
The designated user must present the training certificate to a representative at the DWR Service Counter to apply for service. The customer will receive a Reclaimed Water Transporting Permit/Application. Only the owner of record or authorized designee can make application.
- ACQUIRE PERMIT/CERTIFICATION
An annual fee of $100 dollars is due at the time of permit. The customer will receive a certification card for each training certificate presented at the front desk.
