Gwinnett County has been recognized for excellence in water production and infrastructure at both national and state levels. In 2006, the Shoal Creek Filter Plant was awarded a Construction Management Achievement Award by the Construction Management Association of America.
At the state level, the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) designated the Shoal Creek facility as the "Plant of the Year" for 2007. In addition, the GAWP has awarded Gwinnett County Water Production facilities with numerous Platinum Awards for 5 consecutive years of perfect compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act regulations.
