(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 27, 2026) – Firefighters responded at 1:05 p.m. to multiple 911 callers reporting an apartment fire at the Oxford Apartments at 3400 Club Lakes Parkway in Lawrenceville. The 911 caller advised that there was a fire in the apartment coming from the stove. The 911 callers advised dispatch that it was unknown whether the other units were evacuated or not.
Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy fire involvement at a multi-family, three-story apartment building. While investigating, firefighters encountered fire on the top floor and initiated an aggressive fire attack, deploying five hose lines and a ladder truck to extinguish the flames. Fire crews evacuated approximately fifteen people from the apartment building. Firefighters encountered an occupant trying to re-enter the building after initially evacuating. Gwinnett County Police Officers were able to assist and secure that individual. The apartment building sustained heavy fire damage to the second and third floors, affecting four apartment units with heavy fire damage. An additional four apartment units were affected due to water and smoke damage, with no extension to the adjacent apartment buildings. Medical crews on the scene were utilized for firefighter rehabilitation. There were no injuries on the scene.
The four occupants in the home at the time of the incident stated they were in the other room when they smelled smoke and then noticed the fire in a separate room. There were no sprinklers present in the building. Smoke alarms were present in the fire unit and were activated. The fire displaced approximately twenty-six occupants who will be receiving assistance from apartment management.
Fire Investigators responded to the scene for cause and fire determination. The Fire Investigators on the scene found the origin to be in the second-story, rear apartment unit; the fire is undetermined.
EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDED: 5-Engines, 2-Ladder Trucks, 1-Squad, 1-Rescue, 1-Med Unit, 3-Command Staff Units, 1-Air and Light Unit, 3-Investigators, and 1-PIO.
