(Lawrenceville, Ga., July 1, 2026) – Gwinnett County will join the nation in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States through Aug. 2, the date county namesake Button Gwinnett signed the Declaration of Independence.
The monthlong celebration invites communities across the county to reflect on the nation’s history, honor local stories and contributions and engage residents in shaping the future of our country.
Planned experiences include a community photo challenge and a series of interactive pop-up displays across Gwinnett, where residents can receive themed promotional items and make their mark on a public display.
The County’s celebration, themed “Realizing America’s Vision,” aims to unify the community, honoring the people, places and stories of Gwinnett that contributed to American history.
“This celebration gives us a meaningful chance to honor our shared history and the diverse voices that shaped our county and our country,” said Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “Those who build, serve and innovate in Gwinnett remind us America is strongest when everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
